To induce an antibacterial effect, gallium nitrate was added to the base solution. The antibacterial properties were evaluated on a dental implant in-vivo. Gallium-coated specimens showed the best inhibition ratio of metabolic activity (27–35%) of the human oral microbial flora, showing a stronger effect than silver coatings .
Synopsis Gallium nitrate, a novel drug for the treatment of cancer-related hypercalcaemia, inhibits osteoclast activity but does not affect osteoclast morphology or viability. Limited clinical experience in patients with cancer-related hypercalcaemia indicates that gallium nitrate is effective in restoring normocalcaemia in 75 to 85% of patients and …

The results showed that gallium nitrate was a broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Furthermore, the MIC value exhibited that gallium nitrate had almost the same effect against both types of bacteria, which was strongly related to its antibacterial mechanism.

Introduction. The compounds in the ternary system of gallium oxide, water, and dinitrogen pentoxide can be described by small whole number ratios as lGa 2 O 3 •mN 2 O 5 ·nH 2 O hereafter (l:m:n).When gallium nitrate hydrate is recrystallized from water, it forms a deliquescent hydrate of composition Ga(NO 3) 3 ·9H 2 O, (1:3:18) whose …

Thermal decomposition of aluminum nitrate hydrate was studied by thermogravimetry, differential scanning calorimetry, and infrared spectroscopy, so that all mass losses were related to the exactly coincident endothermic effects and vibrational energy levels of the evolved gases. The process starts with the simultaneous …
Firstly, gallium nitrate (Ga(NO 3) 3, Macklin) and melamine (C 3 H 6 N 6, Kermel) at a Ga/N molar ratio of 1 were mixed by the mortar-mixing method. Subsequently, the mixed powers were calcined in ...

Gallium complexes represent a novel therapeutic class of anti-infective compounds. Microbes have evolved elaborate iron-acquisition systems to sequester iron from the host environment using siderophores and heme uptake systems. Gallium (III) is structurally similar to iron (III), except that it cannot be reduced under physiological …
In this respect, gallium nitrate is not an exception. According to the TG curve, it melts in its own water of crystallization at 44 °C losing 7.40% of mass. The largest loss of mass (36.55%) takes place between 77 and 118 °C. There rapidly follow two losses of 11.50 and 5.04% at 134 and 146 °C, respectively.

Gallium Nitrate. Gallium nitrate inhibits the release of 45 Ca from fetal rat bones in response to PTH and lymphokines and inhibits the ability of cultured osteoclasts to resorb cortical bone in vitro. It interacts with both hydroxyapatite and the cellular components of bone and accumulates preferentially in areas of active bone formation.

For those of you who never heard of Gallium, in its pure form its very similar to mercury. Its a solid silver metal roughly above 75F and melts/ liquefies under that temp, smearing all over and hard to keep intact, hard to clean up. After working with this messy stuff in a science lab, I cant imagine ingesting it.
