Indium-tin oxide (ITO, or tin-doped indium oxide) is a mixture of indium(III) oxide (In2O3) and tin(IV) oxide (SnO2), typically 90% In2O3, 10% SnO2 by weight. In powder form it is yellow-green in color but it is transparent and colorless when deposited as a thin film at thicknesses of 1,000 3,000 angstroms.
Commercially available indium oxide, In 2 O 3 (Nakalai Tesque), and tin oxide, SnO 2 (Sigma–Aldrich), powders with median diameters of 9.0 and 0.12 μm, respectively, were used. A mixture of In 2 O 3 and SnO 2 (3.3 g, mass-based In 2 O 3 /SnO 2 ratio=10:1) was used as the starting material for the synthesis of the ITO powder.
