Another use for kaolin's oil absorbing properties is as a fragrance fixative in soaps. Many people soak their kaolin clay in essential or fragrance oil first, then add the clay slurry to the soap at trace. I used a olive oil recipe for this experiment, in the hopes of being able to clearly see the effects of kaolin versus titanium dioxide.
