Luikonlahti – Mine Closure

The closed Luikonlahti copper mine is located in the Kaavi municipality, 76 km east of Kuopio in eastern Finland. The decision to open the mine was made in 1965, but production did not start until 1968. The mining of ore stopped in 1983. In the autumn of 1979 talc ore processing started as a parallel circuit stage with sulphide ores.
