Fluorite | Common Minerals

Fluorite melts easily and is used as a flux in the smelting of metallic ores. A 'flux' is a material used to help remove impurities from ore as it is refined into metal. As such, large amounts of fluorite are extensively used in open-hearth steel and steel enamelware production, the smelting of aluminum, as well as lead and antimony refining.

Plotting the relevant data of the fluorite ore of the barite-fluorite deposit in the Pengshui area on the Tb/Ca vs Tb/La diagram shows that all fall into the hydrothermal origin field (Fig. 5.6), indicating the hydrothermal origin of the fluorite ore system of this area. Some samples plot at the junction of the hydrothermal and sedimentary fields.

Selective flotation separation of fluorite from calcite by using

Although China's fluorite resources are abundant, with an increasing depletion of easily-processed fluorite resources, the development and utilization of fluorite ores with low CaF 2 grade are of remarkable and have attracted a great deal of scientific attention (Feng et al., 2018). Due to the complex mineralogy of fluorite ore deposits, …

Column Flotation Testing Better & Improved Recovery

The recovery scheme consisted of (1) grinding the ore to minus 48 mesh, (2) fluorite rougher and cleaner flotation, (3) desliming the rougher fluorite flotation tailings at 20 µm, (4) mica flotation, and (5) silicate rougher flotation. Acid-grade fluorspar, mica, free silica (SiO2) sand, and low-grade beryl (Be3Al2Si6O18) concentrate were ...

An Overview of Calcite Recovery by Flotation

In general, precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) is used as a mineral filler in paper industries; while natural calcite (CaCO 3) ore is also suitable for industrial use if it is a finely ground high-grade material.Naturally, calcite is found in the form of high- or low-grade ores and it is one of the most widely distributed industrial minerals on the earth's crust.

Selective Flotation of Calcite from Fluorite: A Novel Reagent …

Batch flotation tests on a run-of-mine fluorite–calcite ore indicated that, using this reagent schedule, the calcite removal rate could reach above 85% while fluorite has a loss rate of below 11%. The novel reagent schedule of "CA + NaF + SOA" exhibits great potential for industrial application in the flotation of fluorite–calcite ore.

Minerals | Special Issue : Froth Flotation

Since the major gangue minerals of fluorite ore are silicate and carbonate ones, flotation is the main beneficiation method for the concentration. Compared with the relatively easy operation for silicate-type fluorite ore, fluorite concentration from calcite has always been the most difficult challenge in the field of mineral processing.
